A house of light

Private Residence in Islington

We have been appointed to submit a pre-planning application for the potential refurbishment and extension at a 2 bedroomed residence in the Barnsbury Conservation Area in Islington. These are the existing elevations of the house ...

The house was refurbished in the 1980's and has some nice post-modern alterations internally including large south facing rooflights but externally, the flat roof extensions are letting in quite a bit of moisture so there is some work that really needs to be done to these areas. Our client is interested to see the possibilities for extending the brief to include an extension to bedrooms above and improvements to their living spaces on the ground floor.

The yellow areas in the massing studies below show a few of the possibilities for altering the ground floor spaces, extending the house to the rear and extending upwards.

We are currently working up some sketch schemes for the house and are looking forward to working closely with our client to produce an innovative design that is both beautiful and utilises all of the space available, whilst respecting the restraints of this prominent Conservation Area and being adjoined to next door's Grade ii listed terrace.
